What the Window Warranty Covers
What the window warranty covers
Windows are made up of four main components, but there are many other parts that go into their construction. Make sure your window warranty includes coverage for:
Frame structure problems: If the frame of the door or window is deformed or damaged due to manufacturing defects, you can request warranty.
Hardware accessories failure: If the hardware accessories of the door or window, such as hinges, handles, locks, etc., cannot be used normally due to quality problems, they are usually covered by the warranty.
Sealing performance problems: If there are problems with sealing accessories such as sealing strips of doors and windows, resulting in reduced sealing performance, this is usually also covered by the warranty.
Opening and closing function failure: If the door or window cannot be opened or closed normally, if it is caused by manufacturing or installation problems, warranty service should be provided.
What is Not Covered, and What Will Void My Window Warranty?
Every warranty will also include clauses identifying what’s not covered by the manufacturer, and any actions or circumstances that will void the warranty, resulting in declined claims. Items that are not covered typically include events outside the manufacturer’s control, such as:
Damage due to abnormal use: If the doors and windows are damaged by improper use or external forces by consumers, such as impact, scratches or use of improper cleaning agents, these situations are usually not covered by the warranty.
Damage beyond the warranty period: The warranty period is usually calculated from the date of purchase or installation of the product. If the warranty period specified in the contract is exceeded, free repair or replacement services will no longer be available.
Replacement of consumables: Some consumable parts, such as sealing strips, small hardware, etc., may not be included in the warranty, or have a shorter warranty period.
Natural disasters or force majeure: Damage caused by natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods and other force majeure factors, is generally not covered by the warranty.
Damage caused by a third party: If the damage to the doors and windows is caused by a third party during construction or service, it may not be covered by the original manufacturer's warranty.
In order to avoid having your windows out of warranty, you should not do the following behaviors.
- Painting windows or otherwise tampering with them
- Adding unapproved aftermarket features
- Removing and replacing the windows
- Attempting to perform window repairs yourself, or repairs performed by a third party
- Neglecting normal maintenance
